All,

I was diagnosed with Cystinuria two years ago in Germany (after two major OPs to remove huge Staghorn stones from both Kidneys)
Since then I have been lucky enough to be stone free - due mainly to my combination therapy of Sodium/Potassium Citrate (Blanel/Blemaren in Germany) and Thiopronin (Thiola/Captimer).

I have now moved home to the UK temporarily for a year so my wife can study, and am struggling to get the doctor here to prescribe my medication (partly due to the language barrier). It seems from various forum threads that Thiopronin isn't licenced here in the UK, and the Citrates are also not available in soluble tablet form either?? Can anyone help or advise me. I still work for a German company so I also have German health insurance but I want to somehow avoid relying on my inlaws sending me drugs!

Any advice would be very welcome

Hi, I get Potassium Citrate in tablet form from my doctors at Guys Hospital in London - they bring in from the States for us cystineurea patients. Ask your GP if they can get them for you.
