My 20 year daughter feels like she constantly has a yeast infection. Today after her visit to the Gyno she called and stated that the Dr. was very concerned that maybe more was going on than just a yeast infection. Her white count was quite high so she was given anti-biotics. My question is: Is there a connection or concern about increase white blood count while taking Thiola and Urocit K.

Thank you
Gayle

I have read the disclaimer and understand and agree.

Gayle,
no, I do not think there's a problem with having a UTI while on Thola; I don't think Thiola affects the risk of UTI or its management. I hope you mean white cells in the urine. Hopefully the antibiotics are effective and the whole thing is done with.Let us know.

My 7 year old, who has cystinuria, always seems to test positive for Leucocytes (white blood cells) on the urinalysis strips we use. she is only on pottasium citrate.I have often wondered why.

Angela, I don't have a good answer. As long as there are few, if any, WBCs on the microscopic examination, and the urine culture is negative, I don't think it's very important. But I would be vigilant for those things.
