I'm scheduled for lithotripsy on Wedn. (8/27/03). My anxiety is mounting!:( I've done it twice before so I know what to expect. It's the anesthesia that makes me so sick. And the first time urinating after surgery is nearly unbearable!
I'll let you know how it went once I'm back to the regular routine.

Thanks! I'm doing great! I didn't get sick at all from the anesthesia, they took very good care of me! And I talked my doctor out of putting in a stent, so I didn't have any irritation in that area! I bruised pretty badly but it's dissappearing quickly. I had an attack of pain on Friday (2 days after surgery) and ended up passing a number of stone fragments the next morning so hopefully I'm over it completely now! I just have to have an x-ray and see my urologist in 2 weeks to make sure it's all gone. I still can't believe how well it went!

Congratulations! Sounds like you really are in good capable hands. :) It's good to hear you are recovering so quickly.
Hope your recovery continues to go well. Let us know how the x-ray turns out!

I saw my urologist today. I'm stone-free in the kidney I had surgery on! :D
But I'm in the process of passing one on the other side now. :(
It's never ending!

It's the good with the bad always... Nothing's ever just the way we want it... :(
Glad to hear you're doing fine, and that you're at least 1/2 stone free!!:D
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you... i've been away for quite a while. I'm looking forward to updating the forums here... looks like we've had a few new members to welcome!!
Anyhow, glad to hear that the surgury was a success. Sorry for the belated congrats.

I can't believe this! I just passed another stone this morning. I'm not sure if I should be relieved or distraught. On one hand I'm glad I passed it. My biggest problem has always been that they grow too big so fast that I end up having to have surgery to remove them. But if I'm going to start passing them on my own now I'll be in continuous pain! I hardly am over that last surgery!
I guess the Urocit-K must be helping. Does that mean I'll have to take it for the rest of my life though?! Ugh!

Hi Crystal,
Hang in there. With the right amount of Urocit and water, you'll be on a healthy routine in no time, and it will become a part of your life. Try not to think of it as burden to take the pills and the water, but as taking control of your pain and your health. I've been doing this for 19 years (I'm only 33), and I still do forget to take pills and get lazy on the water sometimes. But I enjoy being stone free so that keeps me going.
You can do it!
Take care,
Sandra

Crystal I have had over 20 of them, and lost my kidneys because of it, Dont have too many lithotrypsies and ruin your kidneys because the doctor wants a quick remedy. Enjoy the dilaudid and verced. Youll be ok You!

I'm not on Urocit-K, I'm on Thiola, so I don't pass stones anymore. I do have surgery every 3-4 years still though. I KNOW if I drank more water my surgeries would be less. If you are still passing stones maybe you should get checked out again to make your levels of meds are correct. Or up the water intake.
Yes, you will have to deal with this and take medication your entire life. It doesn't go away. I've tried to ignore it a few times and it just makes things harder. Getting on a routine with your water and your pills will help. It can become routine over time. I don't think about it anymore, I just do it.
The good news is that it seems like most of don't deal with any other major illnesses. I don't know about you but I don't even gets colds very often. I'm as strong as a horse otherwise.
Hang in there! Sandra
