Welcome to the group kathjewell! I see from your profile that you have the interesting occupation of an ultrasound tech. It always amazes me that you know exactly what you're looking at. It all seems like a big grey blur to me. ;) Very impressive in my opinion. Anyhow, we're glad to have you aboard. Please feel free to post any time, and if you ever have any trouble logging in or otherwise, don't hesitate to contact me at Admin@cystinuria.org.
Kind Regards,
matt

Hi. I'm not the best at e-mail and working this type of computer. It is amazing I make my living working a computer all day long, yet I can't even download my own e-mail.
I'm having stone removal on 2/7/03 here in up north MI. Sure hope they can figure out what they are doing. I gave them all the knowledge I could come up with.LOL I swear my stones must be filled with a bacteria that spreads throughtout my body after being messed with. I usually end up septic every time I get a procedure done. They are taking all kinds of precautions this time.( Antibotics, Levaquin, before the procedure, during and after) My dr. wanted me to go to Mayo in MN. for the procedure
but I declined after thinking about the travel. I want to be near my family when I am sick. Mayo Clinic is a 9 hour car drive. Also insurance problems helped make my decision. I'll let you guys know how it went. They are going percutanous into a very damaged kidney to laser a 2.7 cm stone and try to retrieve the pieces. They are leaving a nephrostomy in place until there is no more blood in the urine. I manage to remove my own stents, with approval from my Urologist. I doubt if I can remove the Nephrostomy without help. HA Here I go educating the drs on cystinuria complications again. Wish me luck :D katie

Katie, so sorry to hear about your complications! I do hope your recovery is better this time.
Keep educating the doctors; they need it! ;) I'm sure some of them may never know more than what you tell them about Cystinuria.
I hope all goes well for you, and we'll be thinking of you on the 7th and the days following. Looking forward to hearing how well things went. :)
Best of luck,
matt

ps. you'll have to let me know how you remove your stints by yourself, i really hate getting them removed...the 45 min drive to my dr.'s alone is bad enough!:)
