There's a new article in The Journal of Urology, titled Durability Of the Medical Management Of Cystinuria, which stresses the importance of sticking with your method of stone prevention, be it diet, medication or otherwise. The article summary can be found via the link below or by searching for "cystinuria" in the pub med search engine (accessible from the links page). Maybe a good thing to think about for the new year?

Thanks for the link, Matt!

Interesting article (or abstract, at least...)

That last line in the conclusion, "Furthermore, these patients require better insight into the own disease to improve compliance," gives you a little to think about with regards to being good to ourselves re: preventative treatment, but I think these little forums speak volumes about the "insight" we're all trying to achieve.:p

I also did a "cystinuria" search and discovered a few other interesting articles. I never knew this page was out here and I recommend to all to check it out. Highly informative (once you wade through the technical lingo).

Cheers!

Thank you, Matt, for that link to The Journal of Urology! I read it and searched further also. It reminded me of my former commitment to educating myself on my "disease". It also brought up a few questions I should take to my doctor. I tend to get a little too much attitude after a visit to the nephrologist due to the fact that I'm paying him AND doing the research! Not to mention the attitude he gives me when he "reminds" me to drink more!!! I feel much better knowing that this is not uncommon for other cystinuria patients!

Thanks again for all your help in leading us in our research! I really appreciate the time and effort I know it must take!

Happy Holidays everyone!
