HI
My 2 1/2 year old daughter has cystinurea and the only treatment she is on is pottasium citrate to alkalanise. she seems to produce alot of stones: she had a 14mm one removed in july this year and now has a 7mm and 3mm stone all in her left kidney. her doctor says that all she needs is the potassium citrate because that should dissolve the stones as well. What other treatment, if any, should she be on? obviously potassium citrate isn't doing the job!

It's not easy. Certainly you have to consider if she can increase fluid intake and whether alkalinization is working, and if the dose is adequate, and if it can be maximized. I would push those two maneuvers before considering other meds for cystinuria.
