Luckily,it's only my right kidney that produces the stones~ but that baby's bad enough!!!! I don't know why cept cuz i was born with a genetic duplication of the ureter on the left side~ maybe it drains better~anyone know???

I don't think that's uncommon at all. While i do form them on both sides, i primarily have trouble with the left side. All my big unpassable stones have been there.
I've heard of some people tying it in to the side that you sleep on, if you sleep on your side. I don't know how true this is, but it's an interesting thought. I usually go back and forth, so i can't say if it's true or not for me. It's probably just a cystinuria "urban legend" though. :)
As for you genetic duplication of the ureter, i've never heard of that before! I suppose it could be a blessing or a curse... that would be double the surface area to form stones on, but it could also aid in better drainage! What does your doctor have to say about it?
Anyhow, getting back to the main topic, i think it's pretty common. No worries! And yes, even one kidney is plenty bad enough! :D

My husband has always made stones on the left side. His doctors told him that it is because it is a better filter than the other one. He also stated that should he ever lose function in his left kidney that the right one would almost automatically start forming stones.
